Available Sizes

Peel blind rivets are available in steel and aluminium across three body diameters. The 4.8 mm size offers an exceptionally wide grip range — up to 33 mm — making it one of the most versatile blind rivets for thick or variable stack assemblies. Always select a rivet length whose grip range covers your total material stack thickness.

What Is a Peel Blind Rivet?

A peel blind rivet — also known as a four-petal rivet or rose rivet — has a blind end that is pre-scored with four longitudinal slits. When the mandrel is pulled during installation, these slits cause the blind tip to split open and fold back into four evenly spaced petals, forming a wide flower-like bearing head on the blind face. This petal head is significantly larger than a standard dome or even a bulb tite head, distributing the clamping load over a very wide area. The result is exceptional pull-out resistance on soft, brittle and low-density materials where any other rivet type would crack the panel or pull through.

The Peel Action — Before & After Setting

Tap or hover each card to see the transformation.

🔩

Before Setting

The blind end has four pre-scored slits running along its length — invisible from outside but ready to split on pull.

🌸

After Setting

Four petals fold outward into a wide flower head — bearing against the full blind face, spreading load evenly and preventing pull-through.

📐

Standard Rivet Dome

A standard dome head has a bearing area roughly equal to the rivet body diameter — fine for metal, but too small for soft panels.

🌼

Peel Rivet Petal Head

The four-petal head covers 3–4× the bearing area of a standard dome — distributing clamping force wide and deep into soft substrates.

🏗️

Why It Matters

Plasterboard, PVC window frames and furniture panels crack or allow pull-through under concentrated point loads.

The Peel Rivet Solution

The wide petal head distributes that same force over a broad area — eliminating cracking and pull-through on every soft or brittle material it touches.

Peel Rivet vs Bulb Tite — Which to Choose?

Peel Blind Rivet

Steel & Aluminium  ·  4 Petals

Available in both steel and aluminium — giving you a higher-strength steel option for applications where the substrate is soft but structural load is present. The four-petal head provides an extremely wide bearing surface and the longer length options (up to 40 mm) make it the only choice when stack thickness is very high.

Choose when: High stack thickness · Steel body needed · Plastic window frames · Long grip required

Bulb Tite Rivet

Aluminium Only  ·  3 Legs

Aluminium only, with three spreading legs that form a compact bulb. Better suited for lightweight composites, insulation and foam boards where the rivet body itself must be soft to avoid damaging the substrate. Grip range maxes at 12 mm — suited for thinner stacks.

Choose when: Thin insulation panels · Aluminium frames · Lightweight composites · Foam boards

Installation Notes

  • Use the exact hole size specified — 3.3–3.4 mm for the 3.2 mm rivet, 4.2 mm for the 4.0 mm, and 5.0 mm for the 4.8 mm. The petals need clearance to fold outward.
  • A standard hand or pneumatic rivet gun works — no special tooling is required for peel rivets.
  • For plasterboard, always ensure your stack thickness falls within the rivet's grip range — an overlong rivet will not peel correctly and the petals may fold unevenly.
  • For plastic window frames and uPVC panels, choose the aluminium body to avoid galvanic corrosion and surface staining around the rivet hole.
  • The 4.8 mm peel rivet in steel is suitable for moderate structural load-bearing applications on soft substrates — not just decorative assembly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a peel blind rivet different from a standard blind rivet?

A standard blind rivet forms a compact dome on the blind side. A peel blind rivet has four pre-scored slits that cause the blind tip to split into four petals during setting. These petals fold back against the substrate, creating a bearing head that is significantly wider than a standard dome. This wide petal head distributes the clamping load over a much larger area — preventing pull-through and cracking on soft, brittle or low-density materials.

Is the peel blind rivet suitable for uPVC plastic window frames?

Yes — the peel blind rivet is one of the preferred fasteners for uPVC and plastic window frame assembly in India. The wide petal head grips the soft PVC firmly without cracking it around the hole. Use the aluminium body version to avoid any risk of staining or corrosion at the rivet site on white or light-coloured PVC frames.

When should I choose steel over aluminium for a peel rivet?

Choose steel when the joint carries a meaningful structural or mechanical load — for example, automotive interior panels that must resist vibration, or furniture assemblies where shear strength matters. Choose aluminium when joining aluminium, plastic or composite panels where galvanic compatibility is important, or when the material is too soft to withstand the harder edge of a steel petal without local damage.

What is the maximum grip range available for a peel blind rivet?

The 4.8 mm peel blind rivet in the 40 mm length offers a grip range of up to 33 mm — one of the widest grip ranges available in any blind rivet type. This makes the peel rivet an excellent choice for thick composite assemblies, multi-layer furniture panels and applications where the total stack thickness varies significantly across a production run.
